French Language Requirement

In Québec, physicians are legally required to provide care in both French and English. To support this obligation, McGill’s Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) provides residents with access to French language acquisition tools and resources. These are designed to help residents communicate effectively with Francophone patients and fully benefit from their clinical and academic training. All residents are expected to participate in the French language courses offered by the PGME Office, throughout the duration of their training at McGill, including during the Pre-Entry Assessment Period (PEAP), where applicable.
