Juliet Johnson

Professor

Juliet Johnson is a Professor in the Department of Political Science and an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Her research focuses on the politics of money and identity, especially in the post-communist world. She is the author of the award-winning Priests of Prosperity: How Central Bankers Transformed the Postcommunist World (Cornell, 2016) and A Fistful of Rubles: The Rise and Fall of the Russian Banking System (Cornell, 2000).

Fernando Nuñez-Mietz

Associate Professor

Fernando Nuñez-Mietz is the co-director of CIPSS for 2025-2026 academic year. Nuñez-Mietz is an Associate Professor of Political Science and focuses on international law, the use of force, and the politics of human rights and norm contestation. He is the author of The Use of Force under International Law (Routledge, 2019), and his work has appeared in leading journals including International Organization and International Studies Quarterly.
