General information

Parking: There are two parking spaces clearly indicated at the rear of the building and are provided for short-term parking only. Any vehicle parked in the alleyway (which is a firelane) will be towed away at the owner's expense. Parking on Campus requires a permit obtainable from the Security Office in Laird Hall (Cost $165/yr).

Photocopying: A confidential photocopying code is given to all personnel for use on the Institute photocopy machine. The cost is 6¢ per page if charged to a grant, 10¢ for personal copying. The main library, the Macdonald Duplicating Service and John Abbott College also have copying facilities. A Xerox Card Machine has been installed the Macdonald library by the Macdonald Campus Student Society. You can purchase a card from the machine in at a cost of $1.00. The cards can be credited up to a maximum of $50 by depositing $1.00 or $2.00 coins into the machine. Consult McGill Printing Services (398-6300) for details of colour photocopying.

FAX machine: A fax machine located next to the mail slots, is available to send faxes 24 hours a day. As a rule all incoming Faxes will arrive on the FAX machine located in the main office. Incoming faxes will be placed in your mail box.

Student Counselor: If you have a personal problem and you would like some advice, but do not wish to involve those at the Institute, you may contact the Student Services Centre located in the Centennial Centre, Suite CC1-124 (398-7992)to make an appointment with the Councelor.

Commissioner of Oaths: The services of a Commisioner of Oaths is available at the Student Services Centre in the Centennial Centre. This service is available to students for Financial Aid purposes only. It is necessary to make an appointment (Tel: 398-7992) if you require this service.

Student Organizations: There are many student organizations and clubs at McGill and further information on each association can be found in the Macdonald Campus Handbook or the McGill Student Handbook. Below is a brief description of the student organizations at McGill.

AGSIP
Association of Graduate Students at the Institute of Parasitology represents all students registered in the Institute and the elected representative attends regular staff meetings and has one seat at MCGSS and PGSS committtee meetings.

MCGSS
Macdonald Campus Graduate Student's Society represents all graduate students on the Macdonald Campus and the MCGSS also has a seat at MCSS and at Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences monthly meetings.

MCSS
Macdonald College Student's Society represents all students - undergraduate, graduate and part-time students on the Macdonald Campus. The MCSS office is in Harrison House. MCSS has a seat on both the McGill Senate and the Board of Governors.

PGSS
Post-Graduate Student's Society represents all graduate students at both McGill and Macdonald Campuses. PGSS has a seat on both the Senate and Board of Governors.

Within these organizations there are many subcommittees dealing with everything from University facilities, academic matters to social concerns. Student representation on these subcommittees is essential, as often these committees report to the Senate and/or the Board of Governors and aid in the formation of University policy.
