Melzack Lecture Series - Catherine Paré PhD Candidate "Not just for psychologists: Clinical and research perspectives on trauma-informed care in chronic pain management"

Wednesday, April 13, 2022 16:00to17:00

Catherine obtained her BSc with specialization in psychology at the University of Ottawa in 2015. After working for 2 years as a psychometrist, often with patients suffering from painful and complex conditions, she began pursuing her PhD in clinical psychology at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Michael Sullivan. Her doctoral research focuses on elucidating the interactions between different psychosocial factors, such as pain catastrophizing and mental health difficulties, that interfere with recovery following a musculoskeletal injury. During the course of her PhD, Catherine has also worked in a number of clinical settings, such as the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit and the Griffith Edwards Centre (Addictions Unit). Through clinical, personal, and professional experiences during the past 5 years, her research interests have expanded to include trauma-informed care.
