Boris Bernhardt wins the 2022 New Investigator Award from the Canadian Association for Neuroscience

Dr. Boris Bernhardt, Assistant Professor, has been awarded the 2022 CAN New Investigator Award by the Canadian Association for Neuroscience. Dr. Bernhardt is a Tier-2 Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Neuroinformatics and heads the Multimodal Imaging and Connectome Analysis Lab (http://mica-mni.github.io/) at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Dr. Guy Rouleau elected first vice-president of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN)

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN), one of the world's largest medical federations, has elected Dr. Guy Rouleau to the position of first vice-president. Delegates from the WFN's 122 neurological societies throughout the world elect the first vice-president and other offices. Dr. Rouleau's four-year term will begin on January 1, 2022.

The WFN's mission is to foster quality neurology and brain health worldwide by promoting global neurological education and training, with an emphasis on under-resourced parts of the world.

Dr. Angela Genge and the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at The Neuro investigating new treatment for aggressive form of genetic ALS

Dr. Genge is the executive director of the ALS Centre of Excellence in Research and Patient Care at The Neuro and director of the CRU. The Neuro's CRU is one of only 16 sites worldwide and the only site in Canada taking part in a new clinical trial studying an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapy for this devastating and aggressive form of ALS. Dr. Marie-Christine Guiot appointed Interim Chair, Department of Pathology

Neuropathologist and Site Director of Neuropathology at the Neuro, Dr. Marie-Christine Guiot has been appointed Interim Chair of the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, having served as Acting Chair since October 1st, 2021. Dr. Guiot is an Associate Professor in both the Department of Pathology and the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery. 

A neuropathologist and member of the Neuro-Oncology Program at The Neuro, Dr. Guiot has since 2016 served as Site Director, Neuropathology, at that institution. This year she was also named Chief, Division of Pathology, McGill University Health Centre (MUHC)-Optilab. We wish her well in her new role as Interim Chair.
