2018 Conference – Presenters and Programme

Christiane Querfeld, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cutaneous lymphoma.  She is the Chief of the Division of Dermatology, Director of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Program, and Assistant Professor at City of Hope National Medical Center.  Her clinic is dedicated to patients with cutaneous lymphoma.  Her research has focused on investigating the biology of cutaneous lymphomas and novel therapies for these diseases and she serves as co-PI on several clinical Phase I and II trials of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL). Her laboratory projects aim to identify contributing elements of the tumor microenvironment in CTCL and help elucidate underlying mechanisms that lead to disease progression through maintenance and proliferation of malignant cells in the skin.  Dr. Querfeld received her medical degree at the University of Cologne and a Ph.D at the University of Heidelberg.  She completed her internship at Johns Hopkins University, her dermatology training at University of Chicago and fellowships in dermatopathology and cutaneous lymphoma at Northwestern University.  She has published over 90 scholarly articles on cutaneous lymphoma.

Dr. Ivan V. Litvinov obtained his BSc in Biology and BA in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He then received the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (M.D., C.M.) degrees from McGill University.  Dr. Litvinov completed his Dermatology Residency training at the McGill University Health Centre and received a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) certification in Dermatology in 2015. Dr. Litvinov is a Junior Scientist at the McGill University Health Centre Research Institute Cancer Research Program, where he studies the pathogenesis and treatment of cutaneous malignancies, including Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphomas, Basal Cell and Squamous  Cell carcinomas. Dr. Litvinov is also a practising dermatologist at the Royal Victoria and Montreal General hospitals in Montreal.   In addition, together with Dr. Anie Philip and Dr. Stephane Roy, Dr. Litvinov co-directs the Skin Research Group of Canada.

Dr. Steve Horowitz is an Associate Attending in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital, and then completed a fellowship in medical oncology at Stanford University Medical Center. Much of his current research is dedicated to investigating targeted or immunotherapeutic approaches to try to identify better, and often less toxic treatments for individuals with T-cell lymphomas.  His research also focuses on better understanding mechanisms of response and resistance to novel drugs in T-cell lymphoma to help provide individualized treatments in the future. Dr. Horwitz also serves on the executive committee of the International T-cell Registry, is a founding member of the U.S. Consortium for Cutaneous Lymphoma, and a board member of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation. He is the Chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) panel Guidelines for Treatment: T-Cell/PCBC Lymphomas and has led efforts in developing new guidelines for PTCL, NK/T-cell, and cutaneous lymphomas.
