2017 Conference – Presenters and Programme

Dr. Larisa Geskin is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Internal Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and Director of the Comprehensive Skin Cancer Center (CSCC) at the Department of Dermatology.
 
As an oncology-fellowship trained dermatologist, she specialized in the diagnosis and management of cutaneous lymphomas and other cancers of the skin. Dr. Geskin's team aims to provide multidisciplinary care to skin cancer patients, to conduct cutting edge clinical and basic science research, and to train medical students, residents and fellows in the area of cutaneous oncology. She authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and made hundreds of presentations at the professional national and international conferences in the field of cutaneous lymphoma. Her research interest focuses on Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and biomarkers discovery, genetic profiling and regulation, development of immunotherapy and other innovative therapies for melanoma and lymphoma. Dr. Geskin actively participates in the patient advocacy programs, she organized the first in the world support group for cutaneous lymphoma patients 20 years ago. 
 
Dr. Geskin completed her residency in Dermatology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), and a 2-year fellowship in cutaneous oncology at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI). She is a diplomat of the American Academy of Dermatology, member of the Society for Investigative Dermatology, Secretary for the International Society for Cutaneous Lymphomas, and a President and Founder of the New York Consortium for Cutaneous Lymphomas.

Joan Guitart, MD, is a Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, he is Director of the Dermatopathology Unit and the multidisciplinary Cutaneous Lymphoma Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Guitart is a medical graduate of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, and completed residencies in both anatomical and clinical pathology, as well as in dermatology, at the University of Illinois, Chicago. His fellowship training in dermatopathology was performed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Guitart is board certified in pathology, dermatology, and dermatopathology.

Dr. Guitart's research interests relate to the clinical and pathologic aspects of cutaneous lymphomas. Currently, he is studying several areas in the field of lymphomas and pathology including rare subsets of cutaneous lymphomas, epidemiologic and molecular immunology studies of lymphomas and  therapeutic use of various biologic response modifiers in CTCL.  Additional interests include photodermatoses and skin carcinogenesis. He is internationally known for his expertise in CTCL. He has published nearly 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, largely focused on CTCL and pathologic observations in skin tissue.

Dr. Guitart serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Dermatopathology, International Society of Cutaneous Lymphomas, United States Consortium on Cutaneous Lymphomas and is the ASDP liaison to the International League of Dermatological Societies. He is also secretary and president-elect of the International Society of Cutaneous Lymphoms, past-chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the AAD and past-president of the Chicago Dermatological Society.
