Thank you for visiting our program materials page. We are still currently reviewing which materials are best to put online for our community partners. In the meantime, feel free to look at the materials we have attached below.

Manuals

The Facilitator Manual is the backbone of a program delivery. Once culturally adapted, it is the facilitator's main reference. It offers in-depth guidance for the preparation and delivery of each of the program's sessions. It also provides supporting information on the culture-centred approach and mental health promotion philosophy that anchor the project, as well as considerations on safety, progress tracking, research protocols and pre-program planning. The Facilitator Manual should be thoroughly adapted by your local steering committee to ensure that the cultural components of the program fit the community and region's cultural context.

We provide the following three previews of Facilitator Manuals as examples and templates for future adaptations. Some communities have determined that the amount of work needed to culturally adapt materials can be minimized by using the manuals of regions in close proximity as a starting point.

Safety Plan and Incident Report

The Safety Plan was formulated to help facilitators and Elders respond to varying degrees of conflict or emotional difficulty during the program. The final segment of the document should be completed by the coordinators in cooperation with the facilitators to include any locally or regionally available resources. The Safety Plan should be thoroughly reviewed by facilitators and elders before delivering the program.

The Incident Report allows facilitators to keep a log of adverse events that occur during a delivery. When such an incident occurs, a copy of the Incident Report should be sent to the regional coordinator. Each facilitator should have several copies of the incident report on hand. This document can also be found in the Coordinator Workbook and the Facilitator Manual.

Puzzle

Youth participants receive a puzzle highlighting community/cultural values in Session 1. We recommend that you order puzzles ahead of time, either from a local business or online (for example: http://puzzlesprint.ca/). The two examples provided here are designed by Anishinaabe and Swampy Cree partners. Feel free to draw inspiration from their designs if your community would like to create their own puzzle.
