Singapore Alumni Meeting Room

Did you know that there will be a new room honouring Singapore alumni?  The project will be located in the new building for the Desautels Faculty of Management and will give much-needed physical space to every program, from BCom, to Masters, to PhD.

The new building, which is located on McTavish Street, just north of the Bronfman building on campus, will reflect McGill’s global brand image by creating a state-of-the-art facility that will enable the Desautels Faculty to provide the best possible learning environment for students.

The size of the room will reflect the achieved fundraising goal from our Singapore-based alumni:

• $45,000: A 5-Seat Meeting room on the 2nd floor or concourse of the new building

Donation of $5,000 CAD or more

We appreciate gifts of any amount; however, if you donate $5,000 CAD or more (whether in one lump sum or over a 5 year pledge), we will recognize your gift by including your name on a donor plaque inside the new Singapore Alumni Room. Every day, students using that room will know that their alumni in Singapore care about their future and become aware of the strength of the international McGill alumni community.

About the Meeting Rooms

Located on the main floor of the building, the smaller rooms will be used as much-needed meeting and interview space for both students and prospective students and could be used for interview, mock interviews for career development purposes, as well as McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship activities. The larger rooms, with 5 or 6 seats, are located on both the 2nd floor and concourse of the building, where students will benefit from private discussion rooms that are fully equipped with projection screens to facilitate group work.

One of McGill’s strongest assets is its global community. Everywhere my life and career have brought me around the world, the one common factor is McGill. As a McGill alumna, I know that you have experienced the international weight of having the McGill brand on your degree, particularly in Singapore. I am incredibly proud that my three sons are now McGill students and grateful for the opportunities that will be open to them through this great institution.

Both Singapore and Canada have been generous enough to offer me a place to call my home.  I cannot think of a better way to honor both of my adopted countries and the Singapore Alumni Community with a special place on the McGill campus. The Singapore Alumni Room in the new Desautels building will be the first “calling card” of the numerous McGill alumni in Singapore.  It will also be an important everyday reminder for Desautels students that there is a thriving McGill community around the world. What an exciting way to represent our Singapore-Canada group on campus!
