EU Erasmus+ funded WATER project
The Water Resources Research Group, led by Prof. Jan Adamowski in the Department of Bioresource Engineering, has begun work on the EU Erasmus+ funded WATER Project. The project's scope is work-based learning paths in water management, and it aims to share best practices in Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) education.
In November, Emma Anderson, an MSc student working with Prof. Adamowski, visited Bari, Italy, for the project's kick-off meeting and first training event. The event focused on cooperation for innovation, the exchange of best practices, and strategic partnerships for vocational education and training. The project partners include universities, vocational training centres technical institutes, water utilities, and professional associations from Italy, Ireland, Spain, Albania and Canada.
If circumstances allow, project meetings and training sessions will take place at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain, in October, at McGill during summer 2021 and in Bari during fall 2021. Upcoming project activities will focus on sharing good practices in water management training, while also anticipating trends in the needs and skills of water resource management professionals. Through this project, Prof. Adamowski hopes to strengthen international ties and enrich the IWRM program at McGill.
