Heritage
The Peter M. Laing Special Collections Room in the Nahum Gelber Law Library holds early Canadian, British and American titles; the John P. Humphrey United Nations Collection; as well as the Wainwright Special Collection of French Civil Law. The Wainwright collection was the personal library of French legal historian François Olivier-Martin. It was acquired by funds bequeathed by Prof. Arnold Wainwright, Q.C., who taught civil law at McGill for over 25 years. The Wainwright Fund donates $10,000 to the library each year to purchase foreign civil law materials.
