From March to May 2024, 1945 doctoral students from all faculties - 47.3% of the total doctoral student population - shared their experiences through the gradSERU survey. Since then, we have been busy sharing the results with decision-makers across the University and developing new programming to improve the doctoral student experience.
The results from the 2024 gradSERU survey have already led to many new initiatives across the university, including:
A study on the careers of over 5000 McGill PhD alumni to inform current students of potential career paths.
New institutional subscription to a professional development platform for PhDs, postdocs, and Master's students.
Redesign of mandatory training on supervision for new supervisors and graduate students.
New fund to support graduate student groups and initiatives across the University.
gradSERU 2024 is driving improvements to doctoral education across McGill, and the work is just beginning. Take a look at our full (and ever-growing) list of gradSERU-related initiatives at McGill!
