Program Description

The Graduate Certificate in Accounting offered by the School of Continuing Studies is designed to provide learners with core competencies required to pursue a career in accounting. This program helps candidates prepare for the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Areas of focus include financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems.

Unique Program Features

  • The program is designed to enable you to:

  1. Apply current financial accounting practices
  2. Understand the process of financial reporting
  3. Perform the duties and responsibilities of an auditor
  4. Apply the basic principles of tax law
  5. Determine accounting income, working capital, and flow of funds
  6. Perform cost accounting, including cost/volume/profit relationships
  7. Make decisions related to business operations, including investments and financing
  8. Apply fundamental corporate finance theory, including capital budgeting, firm value maximization, risk, and return.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
