Civil Engineering (M.Eng.)

Program Description

The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Civil Engineering (Non-Thesis) offered by the Department of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering is a course-based program that emphasizes fast-paced and cutting-edge learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in novel thinking, project evaluation, and data analysis to pursue professional opportunities (or potentially continue their studies).

This program also offers an Environmental Engineering option designed to equip environmental professionals with interdisciplinary fundamental knowledge, practical skills needed for solving diverse environmental problems.

Unique Program Features

  • Our Faculty and student are leading major changes in energy, transportation, water management and treatment, sustainable construction and materials, and adaptation to climate change;
  • Our program is primarily a coursework degree with the possibility of a small independent research project;
  • The program is structured to include interdisciplinary fundamental knowledge courses, practical applications in diverse environmental contexts, and the functional skills needed for solving environmental problems;
  • A wide range of technical and non-technical courses are offered through collaboration with different units at McGill.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
