Visiting Delegation from France Renews Memorandum of Understanding with McGill

In mid-May, McGill welcomed a seven-member delegation from Université Paris-Saclay (UPS). The UPS delegation was received by newly-appointed Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deep Saini, as well as Mr. Brian Bauer (Director, Global Engagement), Dr. Jim Nicell (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), and Dr. Michael Kokkolaras (Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, Faculty of Engineering). Principal Saini and Dr. Sandrine Lacombe, UPS’s VP for International and European Affairs, offered short presentations on their respective institutions before concluding with a signing ceremony renewing the McGill-UPS partnership through an MOU.

The meeting was an opportunity for both sides to learn more about each other’s current initiatives, and to discuss potential collaborations in education, engineering, graduate studies, and research. Dr. Josephine Nalbantoglu (Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies), Dr. Alenoush Saroyan (Director, McGill University International Institute of Education), and Mr. Jean Saint-Vil (Special Advisor to the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation) joined the latter part of the meeting for these talks.  Dr. Lacombe and Dr. Agnès Linglart from UPS were later welcomed at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Deanery where they met with Dr. Howard Bergman (Assistant Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and colleagues.

The delegation then moved outside and convened near the Hochelaga Rock to begin their tour of the campus before departing for their next stop.
