McGill’s Global Engagement team has developed the first draft of the University’s Global Engagement Strategy 2025-2030, a forward-looking concept designed to elevate McGill’s global impact. Informed by institutional, provincial, and national priorities, the strategy builds on early consultations with faculties and administrative units and will be enriched and refined through a broader consultation process.
At its core, the Strategy envisions a more purposeful and impactful McGill on the world stage. It is built around five pillars:
- Impactful International Research
- Inclusive Global Mobility
- Global Alumni Engagement
- Meaningful International Partnerships
- Transnational Education
Cross-cutting priorities, including Indigenous education, sustainability and equity, guide this framework, positioning the Global Engagement team as a convenor, connector, and catalyst to foster meaningful international collaboration across the University.
The finalized strategy is expected to be released in 2025, with implementation scheduled to fully be rolling out in 2026. In parallel, the Global Engagement team is developing a comprehensive action plan and foundational work on several key initiatives is already underway.
Over the summer, an extensive consultation process will serve to refine the strategy and ensure it reflects the diversity and strength of the McGill community. This includes targeted conversations with academic and administrative units, as well as University-wide surveys to gather input from a broader cross-section of the McGill community.
The Global Engagement team warmly invites you to be part of this important process. Units and teams across campuses are encouraged to reach out and share ideas and suggestions and/or schedule a consultation session.
