McGill University has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ashesi University, reinforcing its commitment to fostering collaborative science, innovation, and impactful community engagement. This renewed agreement marks a significant step in McGill's global engagement strategy, aimed at addressing pressing global challenges through partnership and shared expertise.
Prof. Anja Geitmann, McGill’s Vice-President, Global Engagement, highlighted the importance of this partnership during the signing ceremonies. "Through collaboration, we amplify our ability to tackle the most pressing issues of our time, in health, environment, agriculture, nutrition, and beyond," she stated. "Together, we build a future driven by science, knowledge, and global solidarity."
The renewed MOU with Ashesi University encompass a wide range of collaborative activities, including faculty and staff exchanges, joint research initiatives, academic seminars, and special short-term academic programs.
McGill's partnership with Ashesi University, initiated in 2019, has already yielded significant academic and scientific advancements. The renewed agreement aims to further strengthen these ties, fostering innovation and addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Prof. Geitmann expressed her gratitude to Professor Nii Addy from McGill's School of Continuing Studies for his leadership as academic lead of the partnership, as well as to the collaborators from Ashesi for their dedication and shared vision in bringing this partnership to fruition.
