Remote Access to Virtual Machines

The GIC has 10 virtual machines available for remote connection. They are especially equipped for use with geospatial software, and anyone from the McGill community can connect to them. To do so, visit the AnyDesk website, where you can connect to the computers on a first-come-first-served basis. Once connected, you can reserve the computers for up to 6 hours at a time.

  • Note, for remote access you need to be on the McGill network or use the McGill’s VPN before you connect to our computers.
  • If you are a mac user you will need to download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app.
  • For a detailed explanation on how to set up remote access, please see the McGill IT page on remotely accessing computer labs.
  • If you have any questions come see us at the GIC front desk.
