Director, Division of Geriatric Medicine, McGill University
Welcome to the Division of Geriatric Medicine at McGill University. It is my great pleasure to introduce you to a community of committed clinicians, educators, and researchers dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of older adults through compassionate care, academic excellence, and scientific innovation.
As populations worldwide age, the need for specialized, holistic, and evidence-based care for older adults has never been greater. Our Division plays a leading role in meeting this challenge by combining clinical excellence with innovative research and top-tier training programs. Every day, our teams work to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for our patients—whether in hospital, in the community, or at home.
Education and mentorship are at the core of our mission. Through our teaching programs at McGill University, we prepare the next generation of physicians and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality geriatric care and to adopt the principles of person-centred, interdisciplinary practice. Our learners receive practical experience across various settings and are encouraged to think beyond traditional models to shape the future of aging care.
Our Division is also deeply involved in research that connects geriatric medicine and geroscience—the biology of aging and its application to clinical practices. This approach helps us better understand the factors behind frailty, multimorbidity, and functional decline, and to create new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Through partnerships with national and international collaborators, we strive to speed up discoveries that enhance not only lifespan but also healthspan.
Whether you are a patient, caregiver, student, or collaborator, we invite you to explore our programs, our people, and our ongoing initiatives. Together, we are advancing the science and practice of aging, ensuring that every older person receives the care, respect, and opportunities they deserve.
Warm regards,
