Mission
The Division of Geriatric Medicine at McGill University is dedicated to promoting excellence in caring for older adults through the integration of clinical practice, education, and research.
We deliver comprehensive, evidence-based, and interdisciplinary geriatric care that enhances health, maintains functional independence, and improves quality of life across all settings. Through innovative educational programs, we train and mentor future leaders in geriatric medicine and allied health disciplines, promoting clinical excellence, academic rigour, and a culture of lifelong learning.
Our research activities connect clinical geriatric medicine with the emerging field of geroscience to clarify the mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases, translating scientific findings into interventions that enhance patient outcomes and population health.
Vision
To be recognized nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in geriatric medicine, geroscience, and aging research.
The Division aims to lead the transformation of healthcare systems toward age-inclusive, integrated, and preventive models of care; to generate and share impactful knowledge on the biology and clinical management of aging; and to develop a workforce capable of meeting the complex needs of older populations in Canada and around the world.
