Uzma Jamil
Biography: 

Dr. Jamil holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Sociology and Equity Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, at the University of Toronto. She has worked to strengthen and build critical perspectives that have influenced and advanced academic and policy-driven research in EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) in various institutions in Australia and Canada. As Senior Research Equity Advisor at McGill, she serves as a senior level advisor responsible for guiding and supporting the implementation of McGill’s EDI initiatives in research and innovation, with particular emphasis on the University’s EDI Action Plan in relation to the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program, as well as other federal research support programs such as Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC), Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF), and the New Frontiers Research Fund (NFRF).
