All Bieler funded awards are available only to registered students in the Bieler School of Environment.

Vivian Lewin Field Study Endowment Award

To be awarded to one meritorious McGill student registered as a major in the Bieler School of Environment. (not open to SSS students)

The award is $600.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Students must be registered in one of the McGill recognized field study abroad programs OR have a pre-arranged independent course or honours course that involves field research.
  2. Students must be of a high academic standing as indicated by a CGPA and must be a returning student.

Application Process

Students will be required to submit an application that includes

  1. A copy of student's most recent transcript.
  2. A 300 word summary of the research question or environmental problem being examined and the purpose of the field work OR a description of how the study abroad program will help in student's career development.
  3. A budget of how the money will be used to aid the proposed field work.
  4. Demonstration of registration (either through MINERVA or a letter from the course Professor that shows student’s intent to register) in a course that requires field work as an element for evaluation in the course or one of the BSE associated Field Study Semesters. An additional letter from the course professor may be needed to confirm that the course requires field work abroad.
