McGill Libraries
McGill Libraries provides year-round workshops and webinars on a variety of topics like writing data management plans, depositing research data in a repository, working with sensitive data, organizing research data, and other related topics.
McGill RDM Learning Program (myCourses)
The McGill Research Data Management (RDM) Learning Program is designed to build knowledge and skills to meet researcher’s RDM needs during their day-to-day research activities.

Digital Research Alliance of Canada
The Digital Research Alliance of Canada recently launched Explora, which lists workshops, webinars, bootcamps, and other training events across Canada designed to help researchers at any career stage develop skills in research data management as well as advanced research computing and research software.

McGill Libraries offer beginner-friendly workshops in Python and R, as well as research software.
McGill IT Services
- McGill IT Services offers courses and online resources on a variety of software topics such as IT security, creating surveys and forms, web publishing, using collaborating with Office 365.
- The IT Services Collaboration Solutions team offers training sessions and one on one consultations for Office 365 collaborative tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Forms and Bookings).
- LinkedIn Learning is available to all McGill staff and provides hundreds of self-paced video courses, including software development tools, programming languages and other IT skills.
Other McGill initiatives
- The Faculty of Science's Computational and Data Systems Institute (CDSI) offers workshops on topics related to advanced statistical methods, coding and programming languages, high performance computing, machine learning and general data science.
- The McGill initiative in Computational Medicine (MiCM) offers regular workshop series focused on developing skills in bioinformatics research.
- McGill's Geographic Information Centre (GIC) offers workshops related to geospatial data science, including training on topics such as data analysis in R, Python, QGIS, ArcMap, working with LiDAR data, and more. For more information, please visit the GIC's workshop registration page.
Calcul Quebec and the Digital Research Alliance of Canada
- McGill/Calcul Québec team offers a wide range of training opportunities in research computing and software development. Workshops cover topics such as introductory programming in Python, OpenMP and MPI, GPU programming, Git version control, data analysis with Python, big data analysis with Spark, as well as getting started with high performance computing servers and parallel programming.

Data anonymization workshop series
McGill's Data Anonymization Workshop Series (October 2023) aimed to upskill researchers with both theoretical and practical knowledge in data anonymization and de-identification of sensitive data in order to promote and facilitate data deposit and data sharing best practices.
