Manhattan plot displaying genome wide association results

Research

The Downie lab uses multiple bioinformatics approaches to study the genetics of kidney disease. Our lab aims to identify new genes and genetic risk factors in kidney disease and to use these findings to improve clinical care in nephrology. Topics are diverse and include:

  • identifying genetically determined proteomic biomarkers for drug discovery

  • multi-ancestral association studies of complex traits

  • correlation of genotype and phenotype in complex diseases

  • gene mapping in rare familial disease
