Sergio Burgos, PhD

Sergio BurgosIs the principal investigator. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Animal Science at McGill and an investigator at RI-MUHC. His expertise includes clinical studies to assess insulin sensitivity and nutrient metabolism in humans. 

 

 

 

 

Errol Marliss, MD

Errol Marliss, MD
Is a co-investigator and one of the study physicians. He is a clinician-scientist who has long studied glucose, protein and fat metabolism in persons with diabetes to better understand the abnormalities that occur.

 

 

 

 

 

Michael Tsoukas, MD

Michael Tsoukas, MD
Is a co-investigator and one of the study physicians. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the MUHC and Investigator at the RI-MUHC. His interests include the study of type 2 diabetes, obesity, insulin resistance and their treatment.

 

 

 

Stephanie Chevalier, PhD

Stephanie ChevalierIs a co-investigator. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Human Nutrition, McGill University and Scientist, RI‐MUHC. She has expertise in clinical nutrition and metabolic studies in aging, cancer, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.

 

 

Rob Sladek, MD

Robert Sladek, MDIs a co-investigator. He is an Associate Professor of Human Genetics and Medicine at the McGill University and Genome Quebec Innovation Centre. He has expertise in genomic profiling by RNA-sequencing, proteomics and bioinformatics analyses to identify gene regulatory and protein networks.

 

 

 

 

José A. Morais, MD

José A. Morais, MDIs a co-investigator and one of the study physicians. He is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Geriatric Medicine division of the MUHC and a clinician-scientist. Research expertise in geriatrics, nutrition and aging and protein metabolism.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Catherine Vanstone, MSc, RN

Catherine Vanstone, RNCatherine Vanstone, is a registered nurse and the study coordinator. She also assists with the training and supervision of both Master’s and Doctoral students. She completed her Bachelors of Nursing degree at the University of Ottawa and her Masters of Nutrition at McGill University. She has been involved in clinical research for over 20 years and brings a breadth of knowledge and experience. Her expertise is in cholesterol metabolism with a focus on phytosterols, vitamin D and its effect on bone through the lifespan and the effect of nutrition on weight control and diabetes.

 

 

 

Yi Jin, RD

Yi JinIs a dietitian. She obtained a BSc degree in Human Nutrition in 2020 and is now a PhD student at McGill under the supervision of Dr. Sergio Burgos and Dr. Stéphanie Chevalier. She is interested in exploring the relationship between nutrition and diabetes.
