Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced the five winners of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) 2022 Impact Awards.

McGill’s Cindy Blackstock, one of Canada’s most important social work scholars and an indefatigable advocate for Indigenous children’s rights and welfare, has won the SSHRC Gold Medal, the federal agency’s highest honour. The Gold Medal is awarded to an individual whose sustained leadership, dedication, and originality of thought have inspired students and colleagues alike.

SSHRC invests over $80k in new McGill research projects through the Partnership Engage Grants competition, two of which are directly related to COVID-19 research.

Recently, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced the recipients of its latest competition of Partnership Engage Grants, as well as recipients of its Special Initiative COVID-19 grant competition. Four McGill researchers received funding through Partnership Engage grants for their projects, two of which received grants under the Special Initiative COVID-19 competition.

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) recently unveiled the recipients of its October 2019 Insights Grant competition where they awarded $91 million in funding to more than 1,253 researchers from 60 different Canadian institutions. Among the recipients are 38 McGill-led projects, totalling $17.8 million.
