Along Highway 401 and over the Ontario border, Tyler Maxey and some of his MBA classmates at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management in Montreal are also learning by doing. Their modus operandi: investing other people's money. Since 2008, students have been running a registered fund management firm called Desautels Capital Management that has about $3 million in assets.

MBA students Liam Sobey, Nina Coutinho, Brigitte Crockford, Angel Bohorquez Colombo, and Anais Xia won the Company Prize at the USC Marshall Global Consulting Challenge alongside other prestigious business schools from across the world.

On November 17, McGill MBA Japan students Deb Tripathy, Lyal Clough, Satishi Juriani, and Taka Ishikawa took 1st place at the inaugural Japan MBA Case Competition (JMBACC). 12 teams from universities across Japan participated at this competition held in Tokyo.

45 MBA students from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University, Canada, have engaged in a partnership with the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC), where they will play the role of consultants to eight on-going projects. The students were recently taken on a field trip to visit Labrador City and the mines, located in Canada’s Far North. During their trip they met with President and CEO of IOC, Zoe Yujnovich, who is co-teaching their CEO Insights Class with Professor Karl Moore on the Desautels MBA program.

So, when I was offered the opportunity to join Accenture in Calgary for 12 weeks, I was more than stoked!
Ten months ago, I volunteered to help organize Desautels’ fifth annual Hot Cities of the World trip. I enjoy the challenge of detailed logistics; in my pre-MBA life, I booked national concert tours and publicity campaigns.
