Emmanuella Lambropoulos, newly re-elected Federal MP for the Saint-Laurent riding is one of 98 women elected to the House of Commons this past fall and one of the youngest of these female Members of Parliament. A McGill Education alumna (B.Ed. '13), Lambropoulos is complementing her political career by completing her Master's in Educational Leadership within the Faculty's Department of Integrated Studies in Education. This year's inductees into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame include Faculty of Education alumni from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, who were part of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic women's hockey team. Goaltenders Charline Labonté (B.Ed '11, M.SportPsych '15) and Kim St. Pierre (B.Kin '04) were on hand along with Peter Smith (B.Ed '79, M.SportPsych '86), who served as an assistant coach for the gold medal team.

When a young athlete suddenly dies of a heart attack, chances are high that they suffer from familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Itis the most common genetic heart disease in the US and affects an estimated 1 in 500 people around the world. A protein called myosin acts as the molecular motor which makes the muscles in the heart contract. Researchers had suspected for some time that the R403Q mutation in some of the myosin genes is among those that play a role in causing HCM. But experiments using mice models failed to show that this was indeed the case.

The 120-credit college program was designed in collaboration with Mohawk educators and will be taught on the South Shore territory. ...  For McGill, Monday’s announcement is part of its strategy to adapt to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The university’s end goal is to double Indigenous enrolment by 2025.
