ECP professors Körner, Hall awarded

Education for sustainability

For the Fall 2014 semester the Faculty of Education introduced an Education for Sustainability course with instructors Elizabeth Wood, Caroline Riches and Anila Asghar. The description of the Special Topics course (EDEC 300) was enticing enough for Constantinos Yanniris, PhD student in the Faculty’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education, to attend as an observer. What he found there so inspired him that he reached out to his classmates and the Faculty in an effort to promote the class’ subject matter.

Researcher with Faculty of Education awarded U.S. patent for sub-cellular muscle measurement instrument

Researchers with McGill University’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education and Department of Physics were granted a United States patent for their invention of a new technique that helps measure microscopic forces in biological samples that can be as small as 1/60,000 of the diameter of a human hair.

Punishing kids for lying just doesn’t work

Children more likely to tell the truth either to please an adult or because they believe it is the right thing to do   If you want your child to tell the truth, it’s best not to threaten to punish them if they lie. Randy Chevrier wins CFL’s Grey Cup, Tom Pate Memorial Award

Randy Chevrier (BEd ’99) wins CFL’s Grey Cup, Tom Pate Memorial Award This past week was a memorable one for Calgary Stampeders long snapper Randy Chevrier (BEd ’99). Thursday, at the CFL’s annual awards presentation banquet, Chevrier’s sportsmanship and community involvement were recognized with his acceptance of the league’s Tom Pate Memorial Award. On Sunday, Chevrier won his third Grey Cup, as the Stampeders defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 20-16 in the 102nd edition of the historic CFL Championship game.
