Personal Belongings, a piece made by Maria Ezcurra, Art Mediator with the Faculty of Education, in collaboration with Nuria Carton de Grammont, will be on display at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts until June 23, 2019 as part of Connections: Our Artistic Diversity Dialogues with Our Collections.

A new South African edition of History's Schools: Past Struggles and Present Realities, co-edited by Aziz Choudry and Salim Vally, has been published by University of KwaZulu-Natal Press.

Jayne Malenfant is a doctoral student in the Faculty of Education and she has earned two of Canada’s most prestigious awards for graduate students – a Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship and a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. That all might come as a surprise to some of the people who knew her in high school – especially if they remember that Malenfant was expelled from the school.

The Mohawk community of Kahnawà:ke and McGill launched the first-ever Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) First Nations and Inuit Education (FNIE) program to be given in the community of Kahnawà:ke, on August 20.
It’s a labour of love between McGill’s Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) in the Faculty of Education, and the Kahnawà:ke Education Centre (KEC). It’s also in line with McGill’s Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Education.

A recent gathering organized by the Faculty of Education’s Dr. Claudia Mitchell brought together voices from around the world to examine and eliminate gender-based violence.
Over the first week of July, the McGill International Institute of Education (MIIE) hosted 23 high school students from Maple Leaf Educational Systems (MLES) in China for its inaugural MIIE Student Summer Academy.
Recently, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced the recipients of its latest round of Partnership Engage Grants, including a McGill-led grant totalling around $25,000 over one year. One McGill researcher will also collaborate with a grant led by Ryerson University.

Ratna Ghosh, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, has been named as a Membre émérite of the Order of Excellence in Education in Quebec (OEE). Prof. Ghosh received the medal at a ceremony in Quebec City on Friday, June 15th.
