This event is part of our My Neighbour’s Faith series, which helps students develop religious literacy by offering trips to various faith centres in Montreal. These visits provide participants with an opportunity to experience diverse traditions firsthand, to learn about a religion from those who practice it, and to build interfaith community connections.

The Hindu Mission is the oldest Hindu temple in Montreal. Offering daily worship as well as special pujas and services, the temple (or mandir) represents a space for faith, learning and community service. A free community meal is offered after worship every Sunday.

After a guided visit, participants join members of this congregation for a community meal followed by a Q&A to gain a better understanding of the meaning of music in this holiday for members of this faith community. Through exposure, dialogue and experiential learning, students who participate in these visits become better equipped to live harmoniously in a pluralistic society.
