McGill’s 2025 fundraising campaign for Centraide reached its target, thanks to the support of McGill’s employees, students, retirees and members of the Board of Governors.
The University aimed to raise $400,000; the final total was $401,766.60. All funds go to local organizations fighting poverty and social exclusion. It was McGill’s 50th Centraide campaign.
“This year’s McGill Centraide campaign showed once again what we can achieve when our community comes together with purpose and compassion,” said Viviane Yargeau, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and campaign co-chair. “Thank you to everyone who contributed – your generosity supports those who need it most.”
Co-chair Christopher Manfredi, Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic), also credited the McGill community for the campaign’s success.
“I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this year’s Centraide campaign,” said Manfredi. “Thanks to your generosity, McGill surpassed its goal. Your support strengthens Centraide’s vital work across Greater Montreal, and I thank you for embodying the compassion and commitment of our McGill community.”
Many staff donations are made via payroll deductions; those enrolled for these were entered into a raffle for two free airline tickets courtesy of Air Transat. Additional fundraising activities included bake sales, a silent auction, prize raffles and McGill’s Cutest Pet Contest.
“It’s been a pleasure to support McGill University through its 50th Centraide campaign – half a century of commitment,” said Côme Bardi de Fourtou, Philanthropic Development Advisor for Centraide of Greater Montreal. “Thank you sincerely for your energy, your determination to make a difference and the kindness you bring to our community. You can all be very proud of the results achieved.”
