Research on Infection and Seroconversion of EBV - Understanding Persistence

The Division of Cancer Epidemiology has launched the RISE-UP study, the Canadian component of a global study to assess the prevalence of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection among youth and the rate at which young people catch EBV and develop infectious mononucleosis.

 


Our Mission

To conduct epidemiological research on the etiology and prognosis of cancers of global health importance with an emphasis on proposing preventive practices.

Over the years, we have hosted and trained over 80 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. 


 

Our unit, the DCE, has existed since 1988 on paper and as a de facto research and academic unit since March 1995.

We are affiliated with the Department of Oncology and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University.

Our homes are with the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology and the St. Mary's Research Centre, where you can find our trainees and staff.

 


 

Our division offers a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level on cancer epidemiology and prevention. 

We are always looking for candidates pursuing training in our Division in a student or trainee capacity.
