From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Introduction

The McGill Welcome Chair was first held by the anaesthetist Gordon Robson and then the neurophysiologist Kresimir Krnjevic. Both gained respect for their work throughout the biomedical world, dispelling any doubts about the value of basic research in the advancement of anaesthesia at McGill This work continued with the appointments of both Dr. Catherine Bushnell and Dr. Terence Coderre as the second and third Harold Griffith Chairs in Anesthesia Research, respectively. Recently, anesthesia professor Dr. Luda Diatchenko was hired under the prestigious Canada Excellence Research Chairs program, which supported the hiring of additional new anesthesia faculty, including Drs. Arkady Khoutorsky, Marc O. Martel, Mathieu Roy and Etienne Vachon-Presseau.
