Student Accessibility and Achievement is currently experiencing exceptionally high demand for services while managing significant staffing and capacity constraints. At this time services at both the downtown and Macdonald campuses will be delivered remotely. Exam operations are not impacted and will continue as expected. If remote service creates a barrier for you, please contact us at access.achieve [at] mcgill.ca so we may identify an available alternative.

Please use the correct channel to make your inquiry: appointment requests must be submitted through ClockWork and all exam related questions must be submitted through JIRA.

Sign-up at least 14 days before your exam (applies to all timed assessments)

Dictation

Dictation (speech to text) assistive technology helps individuals convert spoken words into written text, making communication and accessibility easier. These tools are especially beneficial for those who have difficulty typing/writing, or those who prefer to speak instead of write.

  • Word Q (Speech to text) - use speech recognition to speak straight into your text.
  • Dragon Dictation - instantly and accurately dictate, edit, and format documents.
  • Outlook Dictate - dictation lets you use speech to text to author content in Office with a microphone and reliable internet connection. Use your voice to quickly create documents, emails, notes, presentations, or even slide notes.
  • Speech Notes - take notes with your voice for free, or automatically transcribe audio and video recordings.
  • Otter Ai - live, shareable transcripts.
  • Trint - turn audio & video into a transcript you can easily edit.
