President:
Benjamin Girard-Bond
After living in Montréal for 19 years, Benjamin decided to move to our southern
neighbour to study chemistry at the university where Facebook was born. His
passion for chemistry quickly morphed into an interest in environmental policy,
but the real epiphany came when he discovered the field of linguistics, at
which point he changed his major. He eventually went on to pursue a Ph.D. in
linguistics at a rural university in Connecticut, only to realize a year later
that in a “publish or perish” environment, he would most likely perish. That’s
when he moved back to his hometown and entered McGill University to pursue an
MLIS degree. He is hoping it will be his last.
Benjamin’s interests include pretty much everything. To name a few: crossword
puzzlery, French postmodern theory, long walks on the beach, exposing the
hidden workings of the patriarchy, prepositions and postpositions,
superstrings, treasure hunts, activism, praising Wikipedia, and Martha Stewart
Living.
