Three online questionnaires for the diversity of people in rural places...
Researchers from the TERRAIN team at McGill University are now conducting a detailed study on the everyday experience of the rural-urban fringe in various parts of rural Canada. Undergraduate and graduate students in several departments at McGill are also involved.
This study has two aims:
- to learn about the many ways that people use and perceive the rural landscapes where they now live
- to help develop ways of working together so that community voices can help guide decisions about these rural landscapes
We are now inviting the general public to take part in several online questionnaires!
Do you spend time in a rural waterfront setting?
Perhaps you have a cottage or a chalet... or you spend time at a waterfront house that belongs to friends or relatives. We're interested in hearing from you about how you enjoy and value this place, what you do there, and your hopes for its future?

Do you live or work in a rural context?
If you work on a farm, or a ranch, or in forestry, or from home... if you live in an old farmhouse, or a mobile home, or a small apartment building... If you reside only part-time in a rural area at a hunting lodge or a ski chalet, we want to hear from you! What do you think about the landscape in general, and where you now spend time?
Do you live or work in a rural area? Are you interested in how decisions are taken there?
You might be interested in governance or stewardship. Perhaps you are frustrated by not being able to participate as fully as you'd like! If so, we are interested in hearing from you.
