McGill Student Health Service

A complete ambulatory care service available to all students who pay student service fees. Located in the Brown building downtown (Tel.: 514-398-6017), and in the Centennial Centre at Macdonald campus (Tel.: 514-398-7992).

McGill Counseling Service

The focus of this service is to assist students in dealing with personal, academic and vocational concerns. The service is confidential and free of charge to all eligible students. More information about the recently formed McGill Abortion Support Group can also be found here.

Women's Studies Program

Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary program with courses that focus on critical issues concerning women and gender relations. The Women's Studies Program at McGill University provides students with the opportunity to examine how the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, class and culture shape identity and inform power relationships. The program emphasizes feminist theoretical and empirical scholarship and fosters understanding of historical, multicultural, and contemporary social and intellectual issues.

QPIRG (Quebec Public Interest Research Group)

This club provides a pro-woman, queer-positive and trans-positive space on the 4th floor of the Shatner Building (Student Union). Open from 10 am to 4 pm Mon.-Fri., this resource centre has safer sex products, alternative menstrual products such as the Keeper and non-bleached tampons, a small library, a zine distro, a lounge, a microwave and phone and Internet access. McGill International Students Network

This is an organization that aims to ease the transition of international students into Montreal and into the McGill University family. They hold various cultural events and provide various free services such as winter coats and a language exchange program. You can find their Facebook page here

Midnight Kitchen

The Midnight Kitchen is a not-for-profit SSMU service which provides free or on-donation vegan lunches Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 12:30 in the Shatner Building, room 302. Operates as a volunteer-run, collectively based organization with an anti-oppression mandate and is dedicated to social and environmental justice. Everyone is welcome to come to these servings and are asked to bring their own containers/dishes and utensils. New volunteers are always welcome.

The Yellow Door

The Yellow Door is a community organization, which provides programs that support building an intergenerational community and bringing together people of all ages, culture and talents. This organization seeks to respond to the needs of seniors, low-income students and emerging artists, as well as offering volunteering experience to members of the Montreal downtown community. They offer food assistance for students who are having trouble making ends meet, both through a community cupboard as well as community meals on Fridays, at 1 pm. Their page of links includes organizations dealing with topics such as legal aid, housing in Montreal, shelters, domestic violence centres, crime prevention, etc. They are located at 3625 Aylmer in the McGill ghetto.
