Dear Students,

We have just learned this evening that the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) has called on its members to suspend teaching and supervision activities for medical students, effective tomorrow.

As was the case when the FMSQ first issued the call to their members to do the same, the decision of whether or not to continue teaching and supervising students ultimately rests with each individual physician.

Please be aware that, since this is breaking news, many supervisors may only learn of the call in the morning—so some disorganization is to be expected tomorrow.

For Med-1 students:
For your LFME course, if you have a session scheduled for tomorrow, please contact your LFME preceptor to verify if the session will take place or if it will be postponed.

For Med-3 and Med-4 students currently on family medicine rotations (core rotation or electives):
Please contact your supervisor in the morning to confirm whether you will be supervised and whether you should report to your clinical site.

For students on rural rotations who travelled by car or bus to their rural site
Please contact your supervisor in the morning to confirm whether you will be supervised and whether you should report to your clinical site.

If you are not supervised, please inform sersec.med [at] mcgill.ca (Distributed Medical Education team)

For students on rural rotations requiring flights:
Please contact your supervisor in the morning to confirm whether you will be supervised and whether you should report to your clinical site.

If you are not supervised, please inform sersec.med [at] mcgill.ca (Distributed Medical Education team).

You should already have a return flight scheduled for Friday or Saturday. Please do not book an earlier return flight on your own, as these cannot be reimbursed. We will follow up with you directly tomorrow.

A more detailed update will be shared with everyone tomorrow as more information becomes available and plans are clarified.

Once again, we thank you for your understanding as the situation continues to evolve.

The UGME Team
