Advising Day 2019: Goal Setting

Advising Day 2019 took place on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Leacock 232.

The morning featured presentations on goal-setting followed by a breakout session where we discussed best practices in goal-setting for our units, for our students and for ourselves.

9:30- 10:00 a.m. | Professor Richard Koestner, Department of Psychology:

The Motivation Equation

Dr. Koestner will explore factors that interfere with our capacity to successfully attain personal goals. After outlining common errors made in goal-setting, he will describe recent research that suggests there are three little-known secrets to setting personal goals. Learning Resources Services through the OSD

How can we help McGill students attain their academic objectives? How can advisors be part of this process? Tim Campbell will share with you techniques you can share with students so they can learn strategies that may enable them to become stronger learners. Download slideshow
