The Rosenblatt Laboratory: The Hess B. and Diane Finestone Laboratory in Memory of Jacob and Jenny Finestone
The Rosenblatt Laboratory, also known as the Hess B. and Diane Finestone Laboratory in Memory of Jacob and Jenny Finestone, continues its long history of working with patients with inborn errors in vitamin B12 metabolism. Drs. Rosenblatt and Watkins identified many of the genes and steps in the pathway of vitamin B12 metabolism. This has allowed the diagnosis of patients with deficiencies in these pathways. This laboratory is partially funded by an endowment set up by Mr. Hess B. Finestone with the goal of making advancements in the field of medical genetics.
What we do
We are continuing our studies in the inherited disorders of vitamin B12 metabolism both in our laboratory and in international collaborations with other researchers. This includes work on vitamin B12 metabolism in the growth of cancer cells, it role in developmental defects in non-human model systems, and on potential treatments for the inherited disorders of vitamin B12 metabolism. We continue to provide diagnostic services for inherited disorders of vitamin B12 metabolism on research basis only.
News
In September 2023 Dr. Rosenblatt was awarded the Jacob's Ladder Norman Saunders International Research prize. Congratulations!
