The Reader Lab
We study the causes and consequences of innovation and social learning in animals and humans.
In particular, we have been looking at:
- the neuro-cognitive processes underlying the creation and acquisition of novel behaviour patterns
- the diffusion dynamics of acquired information
- the relationship between asocial and social learning
- the causes of individual, population and species-level variation in innovation and social learning propensities
- the role of innovation and social learning in brain evolution
- the evolutionary consequences of behavioural flexibility and the active role of behaviour in evolution.
