Message from Dr. Caroline Reinhold
Interim Chair, Diagnostic Radiology
"The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at McGill University is one of the oldest departments in North America. In February 1896, only three months after the discovery of X-Rays by Roentgen, radiography was performed in our University to locate a bullet in the leg of a gunshot victim. This was the beginning of a long and exciting journey, which over the years has solidified the role of Medical Imaging as an integral aspect of patient care. Medical Imaging has emerged as one of the most dynamic fields in Medicine.
Our Department is proud of its longstanding foundation of excellence in both clinical and educational activities. As an academic department, teaching is of paramount importance. Our Residency Program is robust and recognized nationally and internationally. Our Fellowship Program is also very successful and attracts trainees from all over the world.
The Department regroups 3 institutions, the MUHC (RVH, MGH, MCH, MNH/MNI, Lachine), the JGH and St. Mary’s Hospital with 57 faculty members, 48 residents and 25 fellows. It encompasses all radiology subspecialties in its provision of care and it is a centre of referral for the province of Quebec."
