Under the supervision of Professor Martin Filion, William’s research focuses on the biocontrol potential of naturally occurring soil-borne Pseudomonas bacteria as a sustainable alternative to conventional pesticides against potato common scab disease. His work aims to uncover the mechanisms underlying their disease-suppressive capabilities to improve biological control development.
Looking ahead, William hopes to pursue a career in plant pathology focused on sustainable crop protection. He believes that the knowledge and experience gained through the Plant Science Department have provided an ideal foundation for achieving that goal.
"Having completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies at Macdonald Campus, McGill has been incredibly formative in my academic journey," he says. "The Plant Science Department offers a vibrant academic environment where I am encouraged to collaborate across disciplines, make use of some of the most advanced research facilities in my field all with the support of outstanding faculty and peers.”
Originally from Beaconsfield, Canada, William holds a BSc in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, specializing in Plant Biology, at McGill University.
