The TRANSFORM Youth Summit brought together over 40 young people from Nigeria, Malawi, Mexico, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Canada to connect and share their experiences of gender transformation.
More than just a meeting, the summit was intentionally designed as a space for reflection, learning, unlearning, and community building among sites and participants. The summit objectives were:
Youth Leadership & Collaboration
- Create the TRANSFORM Leadership Committee- A youth led and informed group to support ongoing collaboration between the sites
- Reflect on the roles of youth in research and advocacy across various contexts
- Support and advance Youth-to-Youth spaces and connections
Shared Understanding Across Various Contexts
- Learn about the scope of the project - Where are the other sites? What are they working on? What are some issues and challenges they are facing?
- Explore diverse understandings of gender and gender transformation.
