This week continues a new format to our Grand Rounds event. Over the ensuing weeks you will notice additions to the standard curriculum-based lectures. Specifically, we will be adding "Hot Topics" to move beyond the teaching manuals, "Rapid Fire Cases" in place of standard morbidity discussions and continuing with innovative approaches to "CanMEDS Topics". Finally, basic science researchers and cross disciplinary visiting professors will be added to the mix.
May 24th - This week Grand Rounds will be given by Dr. Jesia Hasan (R3). The subject is: "Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION) - Where are we now?"

1. Review the pathogenesis of NAION
2. Describe the clinical features and natural history of NAION
3. Address controversies related to the diagnosis and management of NAION

May 10 - Ahmad Alali (R2) Kashif Baig, BScOT., MBA. Conseiller Cadre / Système Information Clinique; Clinical Advisor / Clinical Information System. A new Oacis version (7.4) will go live in April 2012. This new version will give users:
A new look and feel;Many enhancements to the ordering module;The possibility of suggesting orders for consultants. Please note that a suggested order is a new functionality that all physicians need to know about whether you are the treating team needing to act on the suggestion or the consultant making the suggestion. This training needs to occur whether your service is on a deployed area for Oacis Ordering Module or not since, as a consultant you may be using the ordering module for the first time. Please be aware that soon, Oacis will be the only place where Medical Imaging orders can be done. It is thus essential that the Oacis team be permitted to provide all services with a demo.
