Less calories but more nutrients;
the nutrition dilemma as we age

Maureen Rose, B.Sc., M.Ed., Ph.D.
After graduation from the dietetics program in what is now the School of Human Nutrition, Maureen Rose worked as a dietitian at the Royal Victoria Hospital, before returning to McGill as a Faculty Lecturer and Stage Coordinator in that same program. While in that position, she continued her studies with an M.Ed., specializing in Adult Education, and a PhD in Educational Psychology.
In her 36 years of teaching courses and guiding students through Stage, Maureen’s nutrition care experience ranged from infants to older adults, in acute and long-term care and in private and public healthcare organizations. Through her years of practice and continuing professional education, she developed a particular expertise in nutrition for chronic diseases, especially in older adults.
As we age, we need less calories but more nutrients. The presentation will take a focused approach to dealing with this dilemma and eating well in later years, targeting the most likely concerns in which nutrition can play an important part.
