Less calories but more nutrients;
the nutrition dilemma as we age

Maureen Rose, B.Sc., M.Ed., Ph.D.
After graduation from the dietetics program in what is now the School of Human Nutrition, Maureen Rose worked as a dietitian at the Royal Victoria Hospital, before returning to McGill as a Faculty Lecturer and Stage Coordinator in that same program. While in that position, she continued her studies with an M.Ed., specializing in Adult Education, and a PhD in Educational Psychology.
In her 36 years of teaching courses and guiding students through Stage, Maureen’s nutrition care experience ranged from infants to older adults, in acute and long-term care and in private and public healthcare organizations. Through her years of practice and continuing professional education, she developed a particular expertise in nutrition for chronic diseases, especially in older adults.
As we age, we need less calories but more nutrients. The presentation will take a focused approach to dealing with this dilemma and eating well in later years, targeting the most likely concerns in which nutrition can play an important part.

Kim Bartlett - My Dance with Parkinson’s
Wednesday, May 13, 2026, 2 - 3 p.m.

Join us for a heartfelt and inspiring virtual presentation that shares a personal experience of living with Parkinson’s disease—and how movement has become a powerful tool for coping, resilience, and everyday well-being.
Kim Bartlett was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009. Thanks to dance classes and support from family and friends, she continued working full-time as Director of Admissions at McGill until 2019. Now “retired”, Kim continues to dance, socialize, study and enjoy her grandkids. She has enjoyed dance since the age of 5. Kim continues to enjoy as participant and president of the non-profit organization, Parkinson en mouvement.
Kim will speak candidly about the realities of Parkinson’s, the challenges faced along the way, and how intentional movement—such as exercise, dance, or mindful physical activity—can support both physical and emotional health. This presentation aims to inform, encourage, and spark meaningful conversation.
