In a Participatory Action Research, local members are involved at each stage of the research process. Both researchers and community partners are invited to discuss the Final Report at our next annual meeting in March 2015.  In preparation to this meeting, each Research Team (Teams: Anishinabe, Secwepemc, Swampy Cree, Mi’gmaq & Innu) has started to gather data into their respective Team Report. For instance, on October 6th 2014 in Winnipeg, both the Swampy Cree Team and the Anishinabe Team worked independently on part of their Report, filling with answers the numerous items.  It is a work in progress.

The results will be posted only at the end of the project once research Teams have presented them first to their respective communities. At the start of the research, all partners involved have signed agreements, which clarified the process. Below you will find an example of a Community Collaborative Evaluative Agreement:

The collaborators will participate in the validation of the results as follows: A validation workshop will be held following the pre-analysis of the data with the persons involved from the community and the researchers. This will give the partners the opportunity to discuss and agree on the way in which the results of the evaluation will be interpreted and presented.

Therefore although each Team has collected qualitative and quantitative data over the years, the results are not yet available since the step-by–step procedure respects agreements. It is especially important in Indigenous communities where in the past, researchers have disrespectfully gather data without sharing results with concerned participants; and also, because context in which data are embedded have to be discussed with community partners, who enrich the results by their knowledge, hence obtaining a contextualized Report.

Three main outcomes will be evaluated:

1.     The research process (partnership, cultural adaptation, implementation)

2.     The program (the goals, cultural items, schedule, delivery process, relevancy)

3.     The outcomes of the program (impact at the individual, family and community levels).
