Helpdesk

MedIT operates a helpdesk to answer help requests related to Desktop, File, Web, and Application Services for users in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The Helpdesk may be reached by phone at 514.398.2001, by emailing help.medit [at] mcgill.ca, by walk-in at McIntyre rm. 212, or by completing one of the online forms.

Help Request Procedure:

  • If your request is either urgent (requires attention in less than 1 working day) or just a quick question for general information it is best to phone.
    • If a phone call cannot be resolved immediately, the user can ask for the help request reference number from the operator to facilitate the tracking of the request.
  • Completing a MedIT form is the preferred method if one is available for your specific request.
  • Otherwise, an help.medit [at] mcgill.ca (email) with detailed information for one specific issue will allow the helpdesk to process the request and have the appropriate person get back to you to resolve your request in a timely manner.
    • The Helpdesk operates best with specific questions that are asked with adequate detail about the problem.
    • Avoid asking questions about multiple computers or different issues with one request.
  • Once you submit a request, an answer or a progress update should be delivered to you within 2 working days. If you do not receive anything within 2 working days, please contact MedIT by phone at ext. 2001.
